Job Title: Mid-Level Emerging Growth/Venture Capital Associate (San Diego)
Location: San Diego, CA (Hybrid)
Direct Counsel is seeking a Mid-Level Emerging Growth/Venture Capital Associate to join a leading Am Law 100 firm with a nationally recognized corporate practice. This is a strong opportunity for an attorney who is eager to work with fast-growing companies and the institutional investors who support them, while continuing to deepen their M&A and general corporate experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Represent emerging growth companies across various industries throughout their lifecycle
Advise clients on venture capital financings, corporate governance, and general corporate matters
Support institutional investors with their investment activities
Assist in M&A transactions, including structuring, negotiation, and execution
Collaborate with attorneys and clients in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
Qualifications:
JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in California
4+ years of experience in emerging growth and venture capital matters at an Am Law 100 firm
Proven track record in venture financings, M&A transactions, and advising startup and growth-stage companies
Strong written and oral communication skills
Excellent organizational and analytical skills
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Additional Details:
Hybrid work model with an in-office expectation of three days per week
Competitive compensation range: $310,000 – $425,000, depending on experience and location
