Qualifications

  • Criminal History Record Check (CHRC)

  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines

  • Ability to relate sensitively to a wide variety of people


Reports to: Facilities director and business manager

Essential Functions


  • Read, reason and understand policies and procedures and related information
  • Follow verbal, written and/or demonstrated instructions
  • Knowledge of materials, methods and equipment used in janitorial work and ability to operate manual and automatic custodial equipment
  • Physical ability to perform all necessary job-related upper and lower body movement
  • Work in a team environment; able to reach, lift, write, and perform basic math
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and stand for a full eight-hour shift
  • Plan, schedule, supervise and evaluate the work of custodial workers
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary building with daily care of all building areas
  • Maintain a clean and safe perimeter around the school building including snow and ice removal
  • Perform minor repairs as necessary
  • Be attentive to heating, roofing, refrigerating, lighting, plumbing aspects of building maintenance
  • Be cognizant of and attentive to all building safety features, particularly fire control
  • Requisition cleaning and maintenance supplies through the facilities director in accordance with budgetary allotments
  • Arrange and oversee building security in accordance with district rules and regulations
  • Be constantly aware of better custodial practices
  • Perform other custodial duties as required by the facilities director/designee
  • Follow health and safety procedures established by the district
  • Arrive and depart punctually, notify appropriate personnel about absences and coverage
  • Demonstrate dependability, integrity, and loyalty when representing RSU 40
  • Follow the chain of command for administrative procedures and program concerns


Terms of Employment: As determined by the current Collective Bargaining Agreement between RSU 40 Board of Directors and the Medomak Valley Education Association

Evaluation: Performance will be evaluated annually by the facilities director in accordance with policy

Employment Type: Full Time/40 hours per week, with potential for overtime.
