Role Summary
- The Change Manager provides people-centric change management support for one or more strategic initiatives, enabling impacted individuals and teams to successfully navigate and embrace organizational change. This role applies a standard change management methodology to deliver key deliverables such as change assessments, comprehensive plans, and progress reporting. The Change Manager designs diverse engagement strategies, implements effective feedback loops, and establishes success metrics to measure adoption.
- In addition, this role facilitates process-related information gathering, supports process mapping, and partners closely with project managers, sponsors, project team members, subject matter experts, communications and learning professionals, and external partners. The Change Manager proactively keeps leaders informed of status, challenges, and required support, and is equally comfortable working independently or collaboratively.
Key Focus Areas
- Primary Focus: Cultural transformation, with an emphasis on integrating diverse workplace cultures and fostering a strong, unified safety culture within a complex and matrixed organization.
- Scope: Large-scale change initiatives supporting multiple operational groups.
- Work Environment: Hybrid model — local candidates preferred; minimum of three days per week onsite.
- Tools: Experience with Smartsheet preferred to manage work plans and deliverables.
- Industry Experience: Aviation industry experience is a plus but not required. Background in large, complex organizations is highly valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the change management work for significant organizational change initiatives, including cultural transformations.
- Conduct and synthesize complex change impact and readiness assessments.
- Facilitate workshops and guide teams through process decisions, partnering with process experts as needed.
- Develop clear, engaging communications and learning materials suitable for a range of audiences.
- Provide guidance and mentoring to less experienced change practitioners.
- Manage a portfolio of change work, aligning multiple workstreams and ensuring that tasks, resources, and stakeholders are coordinated to achieve intended outcomes.
- Report regularly to leaders on progress, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Partner with union-represented and non-union staff, contractors, and external vendors as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 7 years in a dedicated change management role within complex organizations.
- Expertise: Proven end-to-end experience in all change management phases — assessment, planning, design, execution, sustainment — with a strong record of driving successful adoption.
- Cultural Integration: Demonstrated experience merging and aligning differing workplace cultures, ideally in contexts such as mergers or large-scale culture shifts.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of tailoring messages for various stakeholders.
- Process Knowledge: Strong skills in process identification, mapping, and documentation.
- Learning Delivery: Proficiency in creating and delivering training content through both in-person and virtual formats.
- Judgment: High comfort level with ambiguity and strong professional judgment to make sound decisions.
- Tools: Proficiency with PowerPoint, Word, Excel; familiarity with Smartsheet or willingness to learn.
- Relationship-Building: Ability to establish trust and credibility at all organizational levels and to foster collaborative relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
- Recent experience in corporate environments.
- Exposure to the aviation sector.
- Proven track record with complex, multi-phase transformation programs.
- Experience introducing and embedding change management practices in organizations with limited prior exposure.
